Prepare for your pelvic health check
If you’re feeling nervous about your pelvic health check during pregnancy, you may want to read our tips to prepare for your assessment. Please know that everyone feels different, so whether you’re feeling excited, nervous or indifferent we hope these tips will help you get the most out of your appointment.
Physical Preparation:
You don’t need to do anything special to prepare physically for this assessment. It's a good idea to wear comfortable clothing that you can easily remove or adjust.
Mental Preparation:
If you’re feeling a bit nervous, don’t worry, that completely normal, especially if it’s your first time undergoing such an assessment. If you’re feeling excited or indifferent, that’s fine too! Feel free to ask any questions before we start. We encourage questions throughout the session if there is anything you want to know and remember, you can always change your mind at any time.
Scheduling:
Try to schedule the appointment at a time when you’re not rushed or overly stressed. This can help you feel more relaxed during the assessment.
Bringing a Chaperone:
You are welcome to bring a partner, friend, or family member with you to the appointment. Having someone you trust can provide additional comfort and support. If you prefer, we can also provide a chaperone on our end to ensure you feel safe and supported throughout the assessment (please ask us about this before your appointment so that we can ensure that one of our osteopaths is available).
Privacy and Consent:
Before we begin, we'll discuss the entire process, and you will need to give your consent to proceed. Remember, this assessment is entirely voluntary, and you can choose to stop at any time if you feel uncomfortable.
